The Cancer Talk + INFO ;)

It's incredible how long it's been once again! I'm really depressed to be informing you all, and myself, that this is going to be one short post.
I'm sure there are no excuses for this absence, but I'm going to give them to you anyways!
Sorry!
School has me strangled!

BUT WAIT!

Winter break is HERE! I hope you guys will have an amazing one if it's already started for you or if it will, and rock out the cold weather if you got it!

I have some nice videos I'm planning for my channel too!

BUT WAIT.

I also wanted to show my bloggers, if any, this video I made.

Again, sorry that I filmed it on my web cam, but I wasn't about to get my whole stage ready for action and I really needed to talk to you guys about this!

Please, if you know any ingredients and such that are good for cancer patients, that I may not know about, inform me! I'd love to make a section of this blog dedicated to them and good food. Just because you're sick doesn't mean you should eat nasty food to be healthy.

Like I mentioned in the description, a friend and me will do research on our own, and hopefully we can come up with some good menu items for everyone! No prejudices on my blog! >:o

I really hope I'll have time to update my blogs during this break!
If you have a Tumblr and are looking for someone to follow, I am here!
foodismysun.tumblr.com

It's so easy to get sucked into that thing. -.-

My contacts are sucking my eyeballs dry, so I'll be taking my leave now, but thanks for tuning in!
I'm getting some ideas for New Years Resolutions here...

ADIOS AMIGOS!

KA Brownies!

I've been getting so chubby lately, I think I should just relish on photos of past desserts. And then I realized I hadn't posted them! So here we are now. At 2:47am posting them. My mom's going to kill me. ._.
But I'm editing a video as I do this, that I shot with my new camera! I'm sooo happy! I can finally zoom in and not have it be one big blur! And you can actually hear my voice and not fuzz!
I believe this calls for a celebration. Even though these are brownies I ate in the past...
I'm planning on video-ing a salad tomorrow along with the blog post, I hope it works out and that I can actually do it. :o
Anyways, moving on...

I have this terribly creepy feeling that I've already done a blog post on this... But I can't find it in the archives so I'm just assuming it's just deja vu from adding a picture of these on deviantART...

Click HERE to find out where I got the recipe.

Cheese Croquettes

Would it be weird if I took pictures of the food I eat in restaurants? I sure hope not, because I'm planning on doing that. Whenever it is I happen to go to a restaurant. So far from now. -_-

I love how I failed miserably on my daily blogging already! Isn't that fantastic guys? I'm sorry. My day was so bland yesterday. All I did was feel sick, go job hunting, and watch anime on Netflix with my little brother. Of course I completely forgot I even had a blog, except for Tumblr because my friend kept telling me to fix it and webcam with her and so on.
What? You'd like to follow me on Tumblr? Well why didn't you say so! Click HERE for my Tumblr. :)

Anyways, I woke up this morning feeling like a chef! So I cooked both breakfast and lunch today, we ate so much dinner was completely out of the question. (We woke up kind of late too I might add)
French Crepes for breakfast, which if you search in here I do have a recipe for, and we travled to Algeria for lunch.

So I've had this Best Of International Cooking by Annette Wolter and Christian Teubner lieing around, and decided to travel to Algeria.
The recipe is actually Chicken with Cheese Croquettes, and while I did cook the whole thing, I feel like the only thing worth really sharing were the croquettes. The chicken was yummy though, very soft and so not dry! But maybe we shall save the other half of this recipe for another day.

So for right now let's enjoy some Cheese Croquettes!

Ingredients:

6 to 8 white-bread slices, crusts removed, torn into pieces
6 Tablespoons Milk
1 Egg, slightly beaten
1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Salt
1 Cup Grated Emmentaler Cheese (4oz.) [*I just used Mozzarella!]
1 tsp Orange Juice or Orange-flavored Liqueur
1 Cup Vegetable Oil

Directions:

Soak bread in milk. Squeeze dry; discard milk. Combine soaked bread, egg, cinnamon, salt, cheese, and orange juice or liqueur. Shape into small balls; flatten slightly. Heat oil in  medium saucepan. Fry balls until golden.
Squeeze excess oil on paper towels and serve.

Hope you guys try it out! Way easy, super fast, and yummy!

Bye guys! :)

See you tomorrow! Or in two days... or next week.... or maybe in a month. *tear* :'(

Mushroom Cresents + Challenge + Update!

It's been, once again, so long since my last blog post. I kind of irritates me! >:O
I want to look back at my old recipes and post and think "HEHE, whatanerddd." My other dream is to be that one old grandma that kicks her grandchildren's butt at star wars and smacks unknown people with my purse.
So anyways, today in class we were having a total lazy day, gotta love those. My teacher popped in a movie and we watched the great "Julie&Julia", btw my favorite part of the whole movie is the beginning! When they're de-boning that fish? OHHH. It give me the gebbies! The whole movie also makes me want to grab a cook book and start racing through recipes, of course the moment I got home, my energy seemed to have decided to break up with me. On the bright side, I bought some yummy sushi from Publix. I really do wonder why some people don't like Publix sushi? It's really good.
A quick note: I don't celebrate Thanks Giving. I mean, I did last year, but only because a friend invited me ove,r no because I did. But that's beside the point, the point is, food has always been in my life. While I may not celebrate whatever this is, I am extremely thankful for the food that's always been with me. My friend dropped by today and gave me a whole bunch of groceries. I don't even have to pay for school lunch anymore because food is thrown at me. I never take it for granted, I mean dog-gon-it! I love food more than sleep. And makeup. And that's saying something!
Omg I think I'm getting very sick! Sneezing, stuffy nose, tummy aches. Fantastic. I'm still eating of course, my grandma always says "He who eats sick will not die" or something like that cause she says it in Spanish. :P
Anddd! While I was out buying my sushi, I finally came across Cream of Tartar and Nutmeg! Happy camper over here!
Ohhh, and my small challenge is just to simply try and post everyday. It's going to be hard, and forgive me if I fail miserably. I don't have my own computer anymore, so I'm constantly having to borrow, but ahh well.! :)

Enough about me, let's get cookin >:D

Mushroom Crescents

Filling
(*Note, I did not do this filling, I did one with Ricotta Cheese and something else, you could even bake them with jelly for a sweet snack!)
2 Tbsp Butter
1 Small Onion, Chopped
3 Cloves Garlic, Minced
3/4 tsp Dried Thyme
3/4 tsp Dried Sage
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/4 tsp Salt
1 1/2 Cups Finely Chopped Portobello Mushrooms
1 1/2 Cups Finely Chopped Button Mushrooms
1/3 Cup White Wine

Pastry

4 oz (125g) Cream Cheese, Softened
1/3 Cup Butter, Softened
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1 Egg, Beaten

Directions Filling

Set out large rimless baking sheet.

In large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; fry onion, garlic, thyme, sage, pepper, and salt, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened, about 3 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high. Add mushrooms; fry, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 10 minutes. Stir in wine, scraping up brown bits from bottom of pan. Cook until liquid is evaporated, about 5 minutes. Let cool to room temperature.

Directions Pastry

In large bowl, beat cream cheese with butter untill fluffy. Stir in flour untill dough begins to form; knead in bowl until smooth. Divide dough in half; flatten into 2 discs. Wrape; refrigerate until firm, at least 30 minutes.

On lightly floured surface, roll out each disc into 10 inch (25cm) circle. With 2 1/2 inch (6cm) round cookie cutter (Or whatever size ro type works for you.) cut out circles, rerolling scraps. Brush edges of circles lightly with egg. Place 1 tsp (5mL) of the filling in each center; fold dough over filling; pinch edges to seal. (I also used a fork to go around the edges.) Place 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart on a baking sheet. Brush tops with remaining egg.

Bake in middle rack of a 400 F oven until light golden, 12-15 minutes.
Serve warm or at room temperature.

*I got this recipe from eat me; delicious! I get a lot of the things I make from her blog, other blogs, and books. I feel like his is reblogging! (I just recently got a tumblr, so I felt the urge to use that word.)
So basically saying, none of these recipes on this blog were thought up by me. I just like and enjoy sharing food with everyone. SPREAD THE HAPPINESS!
If I do happen to make one up (which I actually have...[milkshakes, Gallo pinto omelete... etc.]) then hopefully I was clear in stating so in the post!

The Process! (I hope you guys don't mind that I didn't bother with the little captions this time around...)

(^Only picture of filling. I did a Ricotta Cheese, mushroom type filling here. Just trying to use of ingredients I had around.)

(^WE FINALLY GOT A NEW TABLE! WO0T!)

(^ I hate how dirty this thing looks. I swear it's clean, it's just really freaking old. >.>)

Hoe to see you guys tomorrow. Hopefully.
have fun in da kitchen!
Bye Beautiful! (Or handsome?) :)

Sugar Donut Muffins

Let's hurry before my internet goes psycho again! O___o
So really quickly, there have been so many birthdays this month, it's crazy. So instead of typing recipes I have stored, I want to just pile up with sweet babies for now! I mean, we are in October, the month of sweetness, so let us be sweet!

I made these Sugar Donut Muffins for my friend, who said it didn't matter what I make, because she's a pig. A skinny as a toothpick pig!
I didn't love these to be completely honest, but one of her friends who ate one loved them and asked me for the recipe, so I'm guessing it's one of those recipes that just has to suit your type of taste buds!

Ingredients:

3/4 Cup Sugar
1 Large Egg
1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg (*I used Cinnamon!)
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
3/4 Cup Milk (any kind)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 Tbsp Butter, Melted
1/2 Cup Sugar, for rolling

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a muffin tine with cooking spray, vegetable oil, or muffin cups.
In a large bowl, beat together sugar and egg until light in color.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg (or cinnamon). Pour into egg mixture and stir to combine. Pour in vegetable oil, milk and vanilla extract.
Divide batter evenly into 10 muffin cups (I did 12), filling them about 3/4 full.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, until a tester comes out clean.
While muffins are baking, melt butter and pour rolling sugar into a bowl.
When muffins are done, (I preferred to let them cool completely first), lightly brush the top of each with some melted butter, remove from the pan and roll in sugar. Cool on a wire rack.

Have fun in the kitchen! ;)
Bye guys!

Hopefully a new recipe tomorrow, bye my beautiful!

My life is about to go through even more changes, so here we goo. >.<;;

On that note, look at the yummy food I ate the other day! (Well, it might not look so amazing in pictures, but it was delicious. Trust me.)

I feel like it's been forever!

Has it really been so long since I posted a blog post!? I'm so sorry guys! You wouldn't believe how busy I've been. Or you might, if you're as busy or busier than me :P
Okay, before I say anything, I'm totally IN LOVE with these 2 songs, ahh what the heck. Here are the two videos. I have been JAMMING to them ALL DAY! I can't get enough of them!

^Okay, SHINee? Best freakin' boy band. Thank you AGAD for last weeks theme, it's what brought me to them! :O
I'm listening to it right now ;D
I hope I picked the right video too o.0
Cause I had all these options and none of them looked like the right one haha, so I just picked one, hope you guys love it as much as me!!

Anyways, since it's been so long and so much has gone on, I don't even know what to say anymore.
But I guess I can start off with today, I had a pretty long day.
I woke up way too early for a Saturday, but I went to my schools open house (which if you follow me on Twitter you'll know :D), and volunteered for a few hours. Which I need to graduate high school haha. I'm kind of angry that ever since we got a new principal, the school doesn't seem to be valuing culinary as much as they should. What, you think all that food prepped outside appeared there by a snap of the fingers?
Uh-uh.
So I was kind of angry about that, and since our class is so hidden in the school, we only had 1 demo instead of the 3 we were supposed to have. :(

But to make myself feel better I came home, jammed to some music videos, then I watched DulceCandy's thrift store haul, and felt like going thrift store shopping!
So I did.
Last time I went to a thrift store really close to my school, so this time I wanted to check out a GoodWill, because, I dunno, I thought there might be better clothes or what not.
But that was deff not the case. pretty much the same as any thrift store, and I was pretty upset at the prices! I mean nothing was under $3. And that was the minimum. Like, I am NOT paying $5 for a pair of messed up boots. Really? So from now I'm thinking of just sticking with those "unkown" thrift stores, because most of there stuff is only $2!! About the same in quality, but if you dig around, you'll be surprised at the stuff you find!
Well, I did get a couple things in the end, because I noticed they had the original tags for one, so they're both brand-spankin'-new! I'm going to do a sort of haul video later, talking about thrift stores a little. But maybe I should check one out on more time before I film so I have more stuff to show you guys.
I really wanted to go for the whole over sized sweaters thing, but ugh. I found 1 but it was $6, and not new, so I just decided I'd go somewhere else and get it for $2.

If you're curious about my outfits, check out my other blog! I know for sure I'm posting an OOTD on there tomorrow, thanks to my little thrift store fun, so be sure to check it out!
I know that you won't be able to buy the same things, but lots of clothes in thrift stores are really similar in a weird way, so you can use what you see as a foundation for whatever you're interested in!

The last thing I half to say is go cl2425! Her online store is rockin'! Since it just opened there's not a whole bunch of merchandise, but wow did I see some things I loved! I'm poor so I can't buy anything lol, but you know I jam packed my wish list!

I'm currently job hunting, so you KNOW that when I find one, earn some di-ne-ro, I will be shopping my butt off. I'm sick of wearing the same things all the time. But I guess that's what goes on with my situation. -__-
But the fun thing about being young is when I am making money, I get to spend it all on myself hehe!

This is probably already a long post so that's it!
If you care about my life at all there it was! xD
(Btw check out my DeviantArt! Username: NatGirl, i post food pictures! :D)

Bye Beautiful!

My Wish List: (There's a lot more than this haha xD)

Motivation&Tips For Working Out! :0

So I got inspired and comprised a little list of things that helped me through a workout, and because I love all my nuggets, I just had to make a video about it! I'll also write down here the list, ya know in case your internet is acting up and all you can do is read text. Or you don't know how to work YouTube. Or you just fail. Hehe, I'm just kiddin. But I'll be writing them down for whatever reason. To exercise my fingers I guess teehee. :P

My Motivation&Tips!:

1. Decide when you are going to work out!
2. How many times per week will you be working out?
3. Get all your stuff and equipment ready before hand!
4. Figure out what you want to do. (Lose calories, tone, build muscle? Abs, legs, butt, chin!?)
5. Find exercise you like, can do, and still make you feel the burn!
6. Do a reasonable amount. Don't over exert yourself. I don't need anyone dying. o.0
7. Have a goal! (OMG DulceCandy's legs!)
8. Have fun! Find a sport, dance, or anything that you really enjoy doing!
9. Eat healthy yes, but eat deliciously and satisfy! ;)

The Touchy Subject: 9/11

Today happens to be the 10 year anniversary (which, is it just me, or does saying it like that cound like celebrating? -_-) and I thought I'd do a little video on my thoughts and opinions on it.
I tried to be careful about the things I said in my video, because I know such an event was a really big deal for some people, and for others even a huge life changer.
Lucky for me, I was sooo very young when this happened, so I didn't get as affected by it as others. Some people might consider me inconsiderate with my words, but I think I'm just saying what a person with a clear mind would. Not that that's a good thing, that's what emotions were created for you know? Feeling them?
But yess just a disclaimer: everything I said in the video is my thoughts and my thoughts alone!
I also want to say that I know that what happened was very horrible, so I don't want anyone thinking that I'm taking it lightly and not thinking it through.
That's not the type of person I am. :)

For those who suffered a loss because of this day 10 years ago, I hope that in these years, you have found the wonders that come with being alive, and embrace them with open arms!
You are never alone, you just have to flip the switch to find the light.

I hope I don't get in trouble for touching such a touchy subject, and I wish you guys could enjoy my video! Comment if you haven't and subscribe if you want to make my day! (Of course if you enjoy my video's too!)

I find it a little weird that when I check up on YT, not very many people have talked about this.
But in a way, that's better, hopefully everyone has learned and we're slowly moving on.. :)

Bye Beautiful! <3

Typical Left-Overs-Collide Lunch :)

Whenever me and my mom cook, we tend to make quite a bit, and always end up stuffing them in containers. That in tern leaves us with a fridge full of left overs. So every once in a while, when I come hungry from school and with no wantings to cook, I dig up some. But other times, we just have so many with little amounts we heat everything right back up, and have a nice big buffet for lunch! In this way, there's bound to be something at the table that everyone likes, and we can finally clear out all the containers in the kitchen.
Other times, my mom makes a nice mixed rice with all the ingredients, next time we make one of those, I'll be sure to post for you guys, so you can see what they look like! And maybe try it out for yourself? Hmm?
Haha, so without further ado, this is just pictures of what we ate, nothing special. No recipes for anything, ohh, I'll tell you what they were first.: (Not in any particular order!)

Mini Potatoes (What are they called?)
Yummy Porterhouse Steak seasoned with just Sea Salt
Ravioli covered with 5 Cheeses Sauce
Gayopinto (Rice&Beans)
Green Stuff haha

Hehe, see ya' round guys! Byeee! :)
