Strawberry and Banana Milkshake!

Hows it going guys!? So I actually made this milkshake yesterday, but I was soooo tired I said screw it! I'll post it tomorrow. As I was looking back at the pictures, I realize how clumsy I was taking them. So sorry about the slightly crooked images, I didn't mean for that on purpose I swear! So, I love to make milkshakes, especially when the fruit are a little bit past the best time to eat them fresh, or when you accidently forget that you have bananas, and now they're about to rot. I make this exact milkshake with different fruit, but strawberries and bananas are what I happened to have, but feel free to mix this with whatever you like! As usual, the recipe is bellow, under the pictures! =)

Well there! Here's my lovely blender filled to the brim with yummy fruits!

Right after I added the spices ;)

Almost didn't fit the ice in! :O

After it all got blended!

And ready to serveee! :)
Ingredients:

3 bananas
Handful of strawberries (*About 6 or more)
1/2 whipping cream or half and half
1 cup more or less milk
3 packets of Splenda (or regular sugar)
Teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Handful of ice

Directions:

The first thing I always do is get my fruit ready. For starters peel your bananas and with your hands drop them into your blender either in half or in thirds. Next you want to wash your strawberries, remove their green little leaves, and cut them in half. Don't forget to add those to your blender too! Next I add in my whipping cream to make the milkshake heavier, then my milk. Afterwards I add in the sugar (Splenda in my case), cinnamon, and the pinch of salt. Afterwards I just squish in as much ice as I can to fill my blender, normally it's just about how much I can fit in my hands. Do not start blending it all at once. Unless you have a new fancy blender, but mine is a bit of work. So I turn in on then off then on. So it blends a little each time, this way all the ice and fruits can reach the bottom and be cut up and blended evenly. Remember that YOU DO NOT have to follow the exact measurements that I listed above, because I just estimated. When I make these kind of things I just eye ball it really. Switch the milkshake from the blender to something that's easier to pour into cups with and enjoy! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine! =)

Gallo Pinto Omelet

Good morning everyone! I woke up later than usual today, which is strange because I didn't do much yesterday, so wouldn't that make me less tired? Oh well! Lets not sweat the details. The last couple of days I've been eating the sameeee thing for breakfast. In fact, I'm getting a little bored of it, so before I switch it up, I decided to just show you guys what it was, in case you ever feel like something new, in your case haha. Oh, and of course, I'll have the written recipe at the bottom! =)

So, being from Costa Rica, most of the time we have a large batch of gallo pinto (or rice and beans) stored up in our fridge. This is what I'm using as a filling!

I love cheese!

Just a simple whisk of the eggs!

For reference, this is what the pan I used looks like.

Mixing the ingredients!~

So this thing is like my holly grail. I use PAM for EVERYTHING. It really is non stick! And for zero calories, I'm sooo in!

We're cookin' up an omelet, yeahh!

Add your mix!

I'm always clumsy. Most of the time one side of my omelet will split open like this, don't mind if it happens to you, once you flip it you really won't be able to tell anyways. :)

Taaadaa!

I just have to eat mine with ketchup on top, I know it looks like a bloody murder, but it tastes much better this way, I promise! Hahaha.

Ingredients:

Gallo Pinto leftovers (ANY filling works!)
1/2 cheese (Again, ANY cheese, ANY amount!)
2 eggs
Pinch of salt
PAM

Directions:

Preheat your pan on medium heat. I always like to beat the two eggs first. Just plop them into a regular bowl, mix quickly with a fork or with a tiny whisk and add a pinch of salt. Next, grab some of your left over filling and pour that onto your pan first, after the food has been warming up for a while, add as much cheese as your heart desires, I use about 1/2 a cup more or less. Once that's done plop it onto a small bowl and make sure to spray your PAM nicely and coat your entire pan. You can use another pan for this, but since the cheese sticks everything together for me and leaves me with a clean looking pan, I just use the same one. Test out a little bit of the egg to make sure your pan is still hot, then pour the egg mixture on top. Swirl your pan around to coat it and get a circular looking egg shape. Once the egg is almost completely cooked, add your filling in the middle and spread it out to look like a hot dog type thing, almost? (Make sure you check out the pictures for this reason!) Then just fold the sides of the omelet over the mix and flop (DO NOT be afraid to do this! Just go for it, if you flinch it won't come out right. Practice Practice Practice!) the omelet onto a fresh plate. Smother in ketchup, dig your fork in, and enjoy! =D

If anybody has some other breakfast ideas that they're willing to share with me, it'd be great! I'm always on the look out for new recipes! Thanks guys, and happy eating! :)

Orange Dessert Omelets

Hey guys! That wasn't a long wait at all huh?
One of these days my friend gave me these delicious oranges, so because that flavor got stuck in my taste buds, I ran out to WalMart a.s.a.p to buy me some oranges. Sadly, they were not as delicious as the one my friend had gotten, but good nonetheless. So every week I headed over to the fruits section and bought myself a couple oranges. Recently though, and I blame summer, I haven't really wanted to eat my oranges at all. And since I've been itching to make a cheesecake, I was looking through all my cook books when I stumbled upon this recipe Orange Dessert Omelets in Betty Crocker's New American Cooking. I happened to have exactly the amount of oranges this dessert called for, and I wanted to use them up before they spoiled. So this was perfect! It was calling for me, I swear!
(Btw, I just realized, but the time on these posts are way off! I'll mess around here and there to see if I can fix it!)
Also, my camera isn't the highest quality, so until I can save up enough money to buy me a new one, this is about as good as it's going to get. =)

Here's what my first mixture ended up looking like!
*I can NEVER find cream of tartar when I go out looking for it, so when the recipe calls for so little, I tend to skip it, and while I'm sure having it would increase the quality of the finished product, I tend to just get along just fine without it. ;)

I by mistake ended up with some egg white in the second mixture, but in the end, I don't think it affected the recipe badly.

This is after I slowly folded the two batters together.

After my 8 minute wait this is what I got!

Put everything together!~

I personally loved the texture of the omelet, it didn't have that nasty eggy feel regular omelets tend to give. It was light and fluffy!

Ingredients:

2 egg whites
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar (*)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 egg yolks
2 teaspoons water
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 oranges, pared and sectioned
Powdered sugar for garnish

Directions:

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in large bowl until foamy. Gradually beat in 2 tablespoons granulated sugar; continue beating until soft and glossy. Do not over beat. Beat egg yolks and water until thick and lemon colored, about 5 minutes. Stir in flour. Fold egg yolk mixture into egg whites.
Heat over to 400 degrees F. Grease and flour 2 round pans, 9 x 1 1/2 inches. Divide egg mixture between pans. Bake until puffy and light brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove omelets from pans; spoon half of the oranges onto half of each omelet. Fold other half of each omelet over oranges; sprinkle with powdered sugar. Garnish with orange sections if desired.
6 servings (1/3 omelet); 100 calories each

Can you guys believe I actually hurt myself with such a simple recipe? BEWARE if your peeling your oranges with bare fingers, my nail slightly separated from my finger, not until the end did I notice. No bleeding or anything, just a slight owwie. =o
Just something I've noticed: my oven is a little hotter than other ovens, so I always tend to go a little tiny bit lower on the heat and for the minimum amount of time. Try to learn your ovens kinks, this has saved me from burning lots of things!
Oh, and of course, if you don't have oranges around, this is pretty basic, I'm sure it'd go great with straw berries, apricots, bananas, etc.! =)

The Beginning

Hey guys! Welcome to my first post ever! Since I'm just learning how to use this blog, I might seem like a total newbie to you so sorry for that! I know for sure I'll be posting about my daily life, or maybe ranting, it all depends on my day! Of course the main reason I'm making this blog is to post pictures of my favorite recipes and of course how I made them! Also, recently I've gotten very into fashion, so if your into some OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) those might be coming around once in a while. But since it's currently summer, I rarely get glammed up now a days, but the moment school starts for me again they'll definitely begin to get more frequent. Besides, documenting your life seems like an interesting thing to do, so I'm all for it! ;)

The last couple of weeks...

Haven't been all that great- well no that's not entirely correct, they've just been really boring! But that's most my fault, I don't take the initiative to go out and be crazy and have fun haha.
On the bright side, I've actually enjoyed cleaning up and around the house.
Normally on such times, I'd be in the kitchen cooking up a whole bunch of things, but I've been gaining weight, and since I have no one else to give the food to, I've had to restrain myself.

I went to take out the trash the other day through this little kind of corridor thing, but I had to stop dead in my tracks, this hugeee spider and its web were like literally half a millimeter away from my face. SCARY! And then I had to end up walking all the way around, that's what I get for taking short cuts!

That's it for me today! My mom brought home some sushi today YUM! so I'll be loving the taste!
Hope you guys have an amazing day, enjoy life, byee! :)
